What are Emissions?
If you commute for work, buy groceries, travel for vacation, or use electricity from non-renewable sources then you contribute to the carbon dioxide or carbon dioxide equivalents in the atmosphere. These compounds in the atmosphere are also known as greenhouse gases. Too many of these gases can cause the earth to slowly warm. Even if you are environmentally conscious, it is impossible in today’s modern world to not contribute to the greenhouse gas effect. If everyone can find a way to live a carbon neutral life then we can all help save the world.
What Is An Offset?
The average American is responsible for about 15 metric tonnes of CO2e per year. In order to offset that you would need to remove 15 metric tonnes of CO2e from the atmosphere. There are multiple ways to remove CO2e from the atmosphere, but the oldest and most reliable resource is trees. These forests sink CO2e from the atmosphere and store it in the trees and soil, creating an offset.
How to Offset
The credits that are generated by the forests are owned by the landowners. Envitree has partnered with the landowners to aggregate the credits and sell them to individuals. By purchasing 15 credits per year you can offset the 15 metric tonnes of CO2e you generate and live a truly carbon neutral life.
The majority of each purchase of credits is returned to the landowners to help maintain or improve their forests and its emissions sinking capabilities.
